White House, Senate Reach Massive $2 Trillion Aid Deal

Finally!  The White House and Senate leaders struck a major deal over a $2-trillion package to provide a jolt to an economy struggling amid the coronavirus pandemic, capping days of marathon negotiations that produced one of the most expensive and far-reaching measures in the history of Congress.

Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Minority Leader Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) announced a deal had been reached from the floor of the Senate.

The new Senate coronavirus bill:
  • $500B for corporate bailouts (bad)
  • $367B for small business loans (good)
  • $130B for hospitals (good)
  • $1,200 per adult (not nearly enough)
  • $600/week in unemployment benefits for 4 months (good, but should go to every jobless American)
