I used to watch professional tennis Grand Slam tournaments religiously even before I won two league championships with my high school teams. It's unfortunate that the grand slams will not have Djokovic, but the sport of tennis is bigger than one player. The world, with the ongoing pandemic, is bigger than Novak Djokovic.

Do you know who Bill Tilden, Richard Sears or Roy Emerson are?  They each were the career grand slam title leaders at one time: Bill Tilden 1925-1967 (43 yrs); Richard Sears 1887-1925 (39 yrs); Roy Emerson 1967-2000 (34 yrs).

Pete Sampras became the grand slam career titles leader from 2000-2009, having won fourteen grand slam championships.  Kids today, I'm sure, say "Pete who?"

In fifty years, probably less, tennis fans will also say Novak who?
