The End is Just the Beginning

Next week, a 33 year journey comes to an end as a new one begins. For several years, JF has been asking me to write for PinoyBuilt and yet, I hesitated. So this week I committed myself to start my new journey as I gently close a chapter in my life.

I have decided to retire from the university life and career. Although I officially retire on 7/1/2023, I begin my permanent vacation on 5/1/2023. I realize that this journey happens just before I 'celebrate' my 40th reunion... yes, 40 years since I graduated from high school.

Unbelievable. I cannot believe it has been 40 years, and now, 33 years since I began my career at the University. First as a student then an employee one fateful day 33 years ago.

As I am preparing myself for this new chapter, I reflect on who I have become today. But for now, I ponder my next steps. I need to transition my mindset from a career to the retired life. After celebrating my career today with my direct team and then with my mom, Grant and many people who passed through my life these past 33 years (and yes, Rosa Mañalac so more than 33!) I realize how blessed I have been. Now, after Friday, I move on to the next chapter of my life...

What would you do if you were in a life-changing situation?
